Dr. Rebecca Bradbury is the founder of The Beauty Doctors and performs every injectable treatment at the clinic personally. She is GMC-registered (No. 7461648), a member of the Royal College of Physicians, and trained in aesthetic medicine to a clinical standard that goes well beyond the regulatory minimum.
At The Beauty Doctors, Profhilo is a medical treatment – not a beauty appointment. It means your assessment is genuinely clinical, your anatomy is understood before anything is administered, and if a complication were ever to arise, it is managed by a doctor with the skills and abilities to sort it out.
What is Profhilo Treatment?
Profhilo is a bio-remodelling injectable; a distinct category of treatment from dermal fillers and traditional skin boosters. It does not add volume or change facial structure. Instead, it works within the skin’s own tissue to improve its quality, firmness, and hydration over time.
Understanding Profhilo and Its Function
Profhilo is classified as a bio-remodelling treatment, which places it in a different category from both dermal fillers and standard skin boosters. Where fillers add volume and skin boosters hydrate superficially, Profhilo works at a deeper level, interacting with the skin’s connective tissue to improve its structural quality over time. The goal is not a visible change in shape or contour. It is a genuine improvement in the condition of the skin itself on a cellular level
How Does Profhilo Work on the Skin?
Profhilo contains two molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, each performing a specific role. The higher molecular weight chain is slower to disperse and it anchors in the tissue and stimulates fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin.
The lower molecular weight chain spreads rapidly beneath the skin’s surface, delivering immediate, sustained hydration. Both processes happen simultaneously, which is what makes Profhilo completely different from a single-mechanism injectable.
What Makes Profhilo Different from Other Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are a precision tool – placed in specific areas to restore volume, lift, or define a contour. Profhilo does none of those things, and that is not what it is designed to do. It does not change the shape of your face.
What it does is improve the quality of your skin across a broad area: firmness, hydration and texture, in a way that targeted filler cannot replicate. The two approaches are not in competition. For many patients, they work well alongside each other.
What are the Benefits of Profhilo?
Profhilo offers a specific set of benefits that are distinct from other injectable treatments: deep hydration, progressive skin firming, and improved overall skin quality. All of this is achieved without altering facial structure or adding volume.
How Profhilo Helps to Hydrate the Skin
Hyaluronic acid binds water, up to 1,000 times its own weight. Injected at the concentrations found in Profhilo, it provides a level of deep tissue hydration that no topical product can achieve. Patients notice this first: skin that looks plumper, more supple, and less dull within the first days after treatment. This immediate hydration effect is the first phase of improvement, before the longer-term collagen stimulation begins.
Can Profhilo Effectively Treat Skin Laxity?
Yes, within reason. Profhilo is well-suited to early and moderate skin laxity: the gradual loss of firmness that comes with age, where the skin has lost elasticity but not significant volume. In these cases, the collagen and elastin stimulation it triggers produces a visible tightening effect, particularly along the jawline and cheeks. For more advanced laxity or significant sagging, Morpheus8 is likely to be a more clinically appropriate recommendation. Dr. Rebecca will advise you honestly on which applies to your skin at consultation.
How Does Profhilo Stimulate Collagen and Elastin Production?
The slow-release chain of hyaluronic acid in Profhilo activates keratinocytes and fibroblasts, the cells in the deeper layers of the skin responsible for producing structural proteins. The result is a measurable increase in collagen types I, III, and IV, alongside elastin, developing progressively over the weeks following treatment. This is not an immediate effect, it builds after both sessions, which is why the most significant improvements are visible four to six weeks after the second treatment, rather than straight away.
BOOK NOWWhat To Expect and When
-
The treatment
Profhilo treatment involves a series of superficial injections at 10 key points on the face or neck. These feel like a sharp pinch and the treatment is over in less than 10 minutes.
-
Weeks following first treatment
Gradual improvement in skin texture and hydration. Patients often describe friends commenting that they look well-rested or refreshed, without being able to identify why.
-
Four weeks after second treatment
The most significant results become visible. Improved firmness across the cheeks and jawline, reduced fine lines, and a skin quality that looks genuinely healthier, not altered.
-
Ongoing maintenance
An initial course requires two treatments one month apart and those results typically last up to six months. Dr Rebecca recommends a maintenance treatment every six months to sustain improvement over time.

FAQs About Profhilo Treatment
Profhilo suits patients who are beginning to notice reduced skin firmness, dehydration, fine lines, or a general loss of radiance, typically from their late thirties onwards. It works particularly well for patients who want a discernible improvement without any structural change to their face.
It is not the right treatment for everyone. If you have more advanced laxity, Dr. Rebecca may recommend Morpheus8, or a combination approach, as a more clinically appropriate solution. She will tell you this honestly during your consultation, including if she believes no intervention is needed at this stage.
Profhilo is administered using the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique – ten carefully selected injection points, five on each side of the face. These points are chosen to allow even dispersal of the product and minimise discomfort. A standard course consists of two sessions one month apart. There is no significant downtime, and results develop progressively over the following weeks.
Dr. Rebecca administers Profhilo personally at every appointment. The treatment takes around ten minutes. Patients typically feel a brief sting at each injection point. Small bumps may appear at the sites immediately after treatment that resolve within a few hours. There is no requirement to take time off, and most patients return to their day straight away
An initial course consists of two sessions, one month apart. This staged approach allows the hyaluronic acid to work progressively, with the most significant results visible approximately four weeks after the second treatment. Maintenance treatments are recommended every six months to sustain the improvement.
The BAP technique targets five specific points on each side of the face – positioned on the cheekbones, mid-cheek, pre-jowl sulcus, and chin – for a total of ten injections. Profhilo can also be used on the neck, hands, décolletage, and arms, wherever skin laxity and dehydration are a concern. Dr. Rebecca will discuss the most appropriate treatment areas for your skin at your consultation.
